An Argentine Malbec Wine Tasting was recently co‑hosted by the Embassy of Argentina in Bangkok and Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit in celebration of Malbec World Day (MWD) 2026.

More than 40 labels of Argentine Malbec from over 20 wineries were showcased. Alongside the wines, guests enjoyed a curated selection of Argentine culinary favourites, including the much‑loved Argentine Red Shrimp and authentic beef empanadas, traditional turnovers filled with seasoned minced meat.

HE Mr Claudio Ricardo Gutiérrez, the newly arrived Argentine Ambassador to Thailand, delivered the opening remarks, followed by Sammy Carolus, General Manager of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit.

Ambassador Gutiérrez highlighted this year’s MWD campaign theme, “Your Malbec, Your Call,” underscoring that Argentine Malbec is a deeply personal experience with no rigid rules for enjoyment. “It is a delight that can be savoured and shared anywhere, from formal dinners to casual gatherings,” he noted.

Following the speeches, guests were treated to a passionate Argentine tango performance, adding cultural flair to the evening. The event drew over 150 attendees, including wine enthusiasts, media, influencers, VIP personalities, Thai authorities and members of the Bangkok Diplomatic Corps.

Malbec World Day is a global initiative created by Wines of Argentina (WofA) to elevate Argentine Malbec on the world stage and celebrate the achievements of the country’s wine industry. Originally a French varietal introduced to Argentina in 1852, Malbec has since become the nation’s flagship grape, with over 75% of the world’s Malbec vineyards now located in Argentina.
